You’re search is over my fellow Warcraft players. Like you, I had the same question when the fourth expansion of World of Warcraft, Cataclysm, was launched. I was busy gearing up for Cata dungeons at that time thinking that I could automatically get inside Grim Batol dungeon using the Dungeon Finder feature, only to find out that I will need to locate the portal first before I could queue in. So, after scouring numerous Google recommendations, I finally found one (will later put credits on that site) that has screenshot on it.

After making some research on my own about Grim Batol and being someone who likes to read about World of Warcraft lore, I found out that this mountain fortress is located in the western part of Twilight Highlands, although some articles say that it is located on the eastern Wetland because that it is near the border of Wetlands. If you have a flight plan Wetlands and have no portal to Twilight Highlands yet, mount up and take the northern entrance.

You will immediately recognize Grim Batol because of the great walls and tall spires that seem to reach the sky. This fortress was built by the Wildhammer clan, under the leadership of Khardos.

During the War of the Three Hammers, Thaurissan, leader of the Dark Iron clan attacked Ironforge, while Modgud, his sorceress wife, infiltrated the fortress. Although Thaurissan unsuccessfully captured Ironforge, Modgud was able to call the earthly shadows within fortress of Grim Batol. Khadros’ clan was able to defeat the invading forces and Modgud, however her death left an evil taint within the fortress; making Grim Batol uninhabitable. The Wildhammers start anew and built their homes in Aerie Peak.
