Tonebender is the nickname of Southern California bassist, guitar and bass tech and builder Doug Van Quekelberg. He has been a musician since his early years growing up in Columbus, Ohio. Starting in school bands on the trumpet and baritone horn, Doug picked up the electric bass guitar in 1980 and was a founding member of the Huntington Beach rock band, The Hooterbreakers. Doug relocated to Lancaster, California in the mid 80s were he now owns his own repair and custom build guitar shop, Tonebender Products, AKA Tonebender Guitars & Basses. He has performed in several local bands over the past 15 years, The Tone Dogs and The Weazels, and is now currently recording with Thirty Dollar Stella, an alt-country / americana trio.
