I'm a 68 year old wiki beginner, hoping to start a discussion on the difficulties for midstream writers to get their fiction published by mainstream publishers.
I'm a 68 year old wiki beginner, hoping to start a discussion on the difficulties for midstream writers to get their fiction published by mainstream publishers. By midstream I mean writers whose work is not easily categorised as genre fiction (such as thriller, romantic, historical). They are not celebrities, nor are they likely to be established literary figures. They have nothing particularly unusual to offer in the way of disability or background. The marketing departments of mainstream publishers won't like them as they and their book(s) will have nothing to hang a snappy label on. What they can offer is a good, entertaining and thoughtful read which satisfies midstream readers. I wonder whether this 'message in a bottle' will be picked up and invite thoughts from anyone.--SoosB 11:55, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
