Simon was born on the 17th May 1971. He started to study music at the St. George's Band Club, Cospicua - Malta, and studied Saxophone Alto under the direction of Mro Carmelo Vella. He furthered his studies with Ray Sciberras FLCM, and studied theory, harmony and counterpoint and obtained the Associateship in composition from the London College of Music. He continued to study orchestration, fugue and composition. Simon has established himself both as a Saxophone player and also as a composer, mostly with local bands. He has a variety of works such as Duet 'for B flat Clarinet and Alto Sax', Prelude 'for piano' and other Piano pieces, String quartet and two string Quintets, 'Water Fall' Brass Quintet, 'La Bella Compania' Saxophone quartet, Suit for solo Alto Sax, 'Baptism' of fire, 'Exaltatio Crucis' and 'The Legend' for band, among others. He also wrote musical arrangements for band, Christmas arrangements and Larghetto for Orchestra. The string quintet named "Sun Flower" was composed for a Maltese dance company in 2008 to be used during a ballet concert held in Malta. The composition "The Legend" was sent to Melbourne, Australia in 2008 together with the festive march "Ta' Bormla", to be played by the Maltese Bands- Maltese Own Band, St. Benald's-Melita Band and Malta-Gozo Band. He composed several festive and funeral marches, some of the latter are included in a cd that was launched in February 2007 for Good Friday of the same year named 'Lacryme' (Tears). He also recorded a song for orchestra together with Orazio Cachia, and was sent to the United States of America, to be performed there. In July 2009 Simon has reached an agreement with an Italian Band of the City of Trento, and this band will play his compositions during concerts in Italy and also in other foreign Countries, with the first composition sent being 'The legend'.
