Ryan Paul Swain (born 25 February 1990) is an English stand-up comedian, actor, writer and presenter. He is well known in the United Kingdom for writing and starring in his own comedy productions, his iconic fashion styles and his formidable charity work.
In 2007 he was crowned one of three other winners from the UK as a 'Huggable Hero' for Build-A-Bear Workshop and traveled to St Louis, America to receive his award for outstanding contributions to charities and his local community. He has received numerous other awards for his charity work and in 2011 he had recognition and was given The National Lifequeezer Of The Year Award in association with Pharmatron Health Foods.
Ryan broke a UK record on May 5th 2012 for his friend and her heart-felt foundation Louby's Lifeline (Brain Tumor Research) Ryan was hoping to be the first person to set a new UK record of skateboarding 52 miles in 12 hours. He exceeded his own expectations and smashed the record in 5 hours 14 minutes, raising both profound awareness and a substantial amount of money for the charity with his efforts.
Swain was born 24 February 1990 and lived in Malton, North Yorkshire. He went to Norton County Primary School and Norton College. After leaving school he went to Yorkshire Coast College (Westwood Campus) To follow his aspirations of his performing arts career. After college he got himself an apprenticeship with CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives) as participation officer trying to help young peoples lives who have been effected by drug and alcohol abuse. After that, Swain became a Funstar for Haven Holidays at Burnham-On-Sea near Somerset. Followed by him getting a part-time job as a Barrista at Costa Coffee. Swain has had other various other jobs, he did his first open mike slot in 2009, whilst studying at college. He aspires to be a full time comedian and presenter in 2013.
Ryan's relentless determination to have fun is stupendously infectious, leaving his audience in a state of uncontrollable laughter. His high energy levels, finely crafted one-liners, and quick ad-libs create an elusive star quality. He has performed and coincided with a lot of big names including, Keith Lemon & Jarred Christmas at The Fosters Laughter Party 2011. There are rumors that he is going to take his act to the stage of the hit TV talent show Britain's Got Talent this year.
Swain is a keen skateboarding enthusiast and has been skateboarding for over 8 years. He has rode for various sponsorship deals over the years and is currently riding for Popcorn Skate Shop in Northallerton Dead Ends Apparel and a independent, English wheel company called Moshdog Wheels. He competes regularly at events across the country as well as hosting and commentating at them. The whole culture and scene has developed him, his appearance and much of his personality. He claims that it changed his life and gave him something positive to focus on as a young child. It introduced him to music, art and other cultural elements of life.
