Neil excelled at school both academically and through sport and desperately wanted to become a fighter pilot. Unfortunately or fortunately Neils eyes did not allow this due to colour blindness on greys greens and blues.

Neils next option was to build the planes he so desperately wanted to fly and landed what was to be deemed the best apprenticeship in the world in Weybridge Surrey
