About Me

Kia ora,

My name is Rachel Bell and I am an archivist based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.

I grew up in rural Aotearoa and maintain an interest in agricultural history and non-urban areas as well as architecture and architectural history. I am also a keen knitter/spinner/beginner weaver and have a special interest in textiles and textile history.

I am very new to Wikipedia (July 2024) and am finding my way slowly.

Conflict of Interest

I am a paid employee of the Fletcher Trust, an independent, registered charitable trust in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Trust’s philanthropic strategy is to focus on supporting initiatives in education that have the potential to positively impact on large numbers of young New Zealanders. Since 2025 this has included making material from the Fletcher Trust Archive available for use on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. To date, the majority of this has been done by an external contractor employed by the Trust, or through partnership with the 2025/26 Auckland Museum Summer Studentship programme.

I will sometimes make edits, and contribute images or information from the Archive, or related to the material we hold in the Archive. This is usually done on my own time. I will not edit pages about the Fletcher Trust or its activities, or current members of the board of the Fletcher Trust that employs me.

I have made contributions to the Wikipedia page of John Hood. Hood was previously on the board of the Fletcher Trust and I met him once, briefly, in this capacity. Edits to his Wikipedia page were made after his resignation from the board. I have also made contributions to the page of Kerrin Vautier. I have not met Vautier, but we have communicated in the past via email regarding an unrelated, personal research enquiry.
