I edit articles whose topics have to do with my hobbies (for example, I have edited some of the articles relating to Civilization II and Magic the Gathering), local institutions (for me, that's Rochester, New York), songs/bands I like, et cetera. Sometimes, I might work on an article for a book/movie/etc. that I recently saw. Of course, I'll often do a quick edit deleting wikispam or fixing typos in any articles I'm reading.

One of the major uses of silver is to mint silver coins, and the Comstock Lode's supply spurred a potentially large amount of these. This potential for a large amoutn of silver coins was a major factor behind free silver, a major political issue in the U.S. in the late 1800's.
A United States Mint branch was established at Carson City, Nevada to conveniently make silver coins from the Lode.
