Mogan - any large saltwater fish, the fish that got away, or the largest fish of the day.
Mogan - any large saltwater fish, the fish that got away, or the largest fish of the day.
The origin of the term is from the popular Television program - Addictive Fishing. In 1980, Blair Wiggins and Kevin McCabe began their daily fishing excursions before and after school. Kevin had moved from the north and referred to big fish as "monsters". Blair, born and raised in Florida, called them "biggans". As young kids do, they combined the words to create what has become the coolest catch phrase on saltwater. That’s a "Mogan"! Freshwater anglers have termed big bass as lunkers, so for saltwater fishermen, Mogan has become the term of choice. In 2010, McCabe Productions, Inc. (MPI) and Addictive Fishing were granted the trademark for the term "Mogan" as it relates to the fishing industry.
