Kevin Toy is a burgeoning movie, stage, and television actor.

Kevin Toy, the older one of his twin brother, Kelvin Toy, was born to an upper middle class family in New Orleans, LA to his mother Kim Preston, a veteran New Orleans Police Officer and his father, Kevin Toy Sr. a hardworking New Orleans businessman. His parents would split up when he and his brother were just seven years old. Although he was raised in a Baptist family, at his grandmother’s request, the twin boys would be educated in Catholic Schools.

He attended Holy Ghost Catholic School from first to eighth grade where he graduated with honors to attend Redeemer Seton High School. In 2005, his sophomore year of high school, Hurricane Katrina hit the city of New Orleans wrecking his father’s uptown home and badly damaging his high school, which eventually led to the high school’s permanent closure. Leaving his mother behind, because of the fact that her career demanded that she stay in New Orleans to protect and serve the people of New Orleans, he and twelve other of his relatives headed for refuge to Atlanta, GA. to stay with his uncle William Preston, a successful business manager to some of Atlanta's hottest stars such as Monica Arnold.

While in Atlanta, Kevin Toy and his family resided in his uncle’s Buckhead mansion for six months before returning to the city of New Orleans. While there, he attended North Atlanta High School, a prestigious performing arts and magnet high school where he and his twin brother enrolled in a drama class to earn an elective credit, which they needed in order to graduate. Taking the class seriously, his drama teacher noticed his knack for acting and decided to ask him to audition for a prominent role in the popular high school play, Juvie.

At first reluctant, he decided to audition for the role and after a tough auditioning process, he won the role of Andrew, an autistic teenager who gets caught up with the wrong crowd and ends up in the Juvenile Detention Center where he gets bullied because of his disability. The play was so promising that his drama teacher decided to enter the play into the grueling and competitive One Act Play Competition in the state of Georgia. The play would go on to win second place and Kevin Toy would win the coveted Best Actor Award for his portrayal of Andrew.

When he and his family returned to the badly damaged city of New Orleans, with no school to return to, he and his twin brother enrolled at Saint Augustine High School, a prestigious all African American male Catholic High School. While there, he would become heavily involved in the school’s extracurricular activities from trying out for the basketball team to becoming the Student Body Vice President. Graduating at the top of his class, he would receive a scholarship to the University of Florida where he studied Anthropology. Like his mother with a love for the law and public service, a prelaw student, he studied legal writing at the prestigious Harvard Summer School during his junior year of college. Being one of the few black male students there, he noticed that he would get a lot of stares from the foreign students, they would come up to him and ask to take pictures with him. Puzzled by this, he asked the students why they wished to take pictures with him. They responded by saying “because you look so cool." He jokingly says this kind of treatment would prepare him for the life of a famous and successful actor.
