Prof. Dr. Steve De Cliff is a physical chemist of Burundian origin who also identifies himself as Juru VII in reference to the fact that he is the seventh Juru on the family tree of his descent, compared to the most distant of his great-grandfathers who was called Juru. Prof. Steve Juru De Cliff was a Research Associate at the Institute of the Chemical Processes and Environmental Technology (ICPET) of the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada, under a fellowship of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research of Canada (NSERC), at Ottawa in Canada, where he previously obtained his Ph.D at the University of Ottawa. He is currently a senior lecturer and researcher at the Université du Burundi. His main research interest is the development of chemical processes for mines processing, especially rare-earths.
