It is used to make repetitive automated or semi-automated edits that would be extremely tedious to do manually, in accordance with the bot policy. This bot is designed create project wide watchlists. It uses WikiProject categories contain talk pages that feature the projects banner. A link to each article is added to the watchlist so that Special:recentchangeslinked can be used to watch them.
The following steps are needed to add a watchlist to a project:-
- Create a subpage in the project and add {{User:JoshurBot/Project watchlist}} with required parameters as given below
- Link Special:recentchangeslinked using the sub page's name somewhere on the project page
Parameters
Theres currently three parameters for the template
- project - This gives the name of the project (currently not used by the bot).
- source - This is the template or category that is used to find articles.
- type - This can be set to either "embedded in" for using a template or "category members" for a category. If a template is used as the source then all the articles that have the template on their talk pages will be included in the watchlist.
