Joe was born in Chicago to Puerto-Rican parents. He began to Act at the age of five.
He began his dance training watching movies starring Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. By the age of four he knew who he wanted to be. He would close his bedroom door and pretend to be on the same movie dance scenes with these great legends of film.
At a young age he saw A Chorus line on Broadway at the Shubert Theater and notice that two characters were Puerto-Rican, he realized then and there that he could be up there too. So it began his journey to be an entertainer.
As a professional musical theater actor, dancer and choreographer, Joe has had the opportunity to make his dream become a reality.
Some of his credit includes Paul in A Chorus line, Bernardo in West Side Story, FOSSE, Kenickie in Grease, Jose 'Joe' Vegas in Fame, Angel in RENT and as Judy Denmark/Ginger Del Marco in an all male cast of Ruthless. TV shows like "Boston Legal, My name is Earl, 21 Jump Street, Ally McBeal, City Of Angel's, Secretos and Placas to name a few.
Joe moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 1988 working in TV, Film, Theater and Dance Videos as well several covers of magazine. Joe's won several awards as a performer, choreographer and director. In January of 2010 Joe moved to St Louis, MO.
He was the founder choreographer & director for "BBD" Burnin’ Boot Dancers (combination of country musical-Jazz and contemporary).
He is the director, writer and Choreographer of Arts4Him Ministry and Drama In Christ Theater Company.
Joe has written twenty one Christian stage shows from comedy to musical Theater.
Some of his original work includes: Open House on Christmas Eve, Witness, CP the Superhero in You, Lazarus, friend of Jesus and Mixx-Nutz Christmas Celebration. And his latest one "Twisted Broadway" You can visit Joe's Christian Theater Company at www.arts4god.com
Joe has published his first Christian Stage Plays (Volume I) Joe was also the Senior Pastor at Revival Center Christian Theater Church.
He has worked as an independent Performing arts teacher for the last 20 years teaching Ballroom, Musical theater choreography, Salsa, Theater 101, Jazz, Modern and Playwriting.
Joe has a passion for Mission. He has been active in his community, particularly in Los Angeles where he served in community organizations organizing Buddy programs for individuals and families infected or affected by the HIV (AIDS) epidemic.
He has created after-school outreach programs for youth at risk. He is involved with foster family agencies, gathering gifts and toys for foster and homeless children.
He has created departments in charge for feeding and clothing our homeless community during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
