Ian Weekes, Countertenor is a Barbadian native who started singing at age eight as a treble in the [St. Michael's Cathedral Choir], Barbados. He developed his practical and technical musicianship and singing with the coaching and tutoring of Margot Branch. Mrs. Branch was also instrumental in developing natural countertenor voice, which is unique with soothing resonants, passonate and emotive timber.

Ian successfully completed both vocal and technical exams with the Associated Board Royal School of Music (ABRSM). As a countertenor, he holds the Diploma of Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) in singing. He was one of the young treble choristers of St. Michael's Cathedral Choir, who in 1971, made that historic visit to Westminster Abbey. Ian is also a member of the Myriad Singers of Barbados. He has performed in Washington, Boston, New York, Guyana, Montserrat, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, US Virgin Islands and The British Virgin Islands.

A major part of his repertoire comprise music from the Baroque and contemporary periods. He has performed solos from Bach’s Magnificat, Cantatas, and St. Matthew Passion; Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb; Messiah, Julius Caesar and Rinaldo Operas by G.F. Handel, Mozart’s Requiem, Purcell’s Don Quixote, King Arthur and Oedipus and Vivaldi’s Gloria, Stabat Mater, and Cantata Cessate, omia cessate for Countertenor and strings.
