Biography: Mezie Arachie's writing profession started in his childhood as an altar knight who wrote official letters for the catechist. He was inspired to start writing professionally when he won a State's Primary Schools essay writing contest on 27 May 1996. His writing profession and passion for writing gave birth to 'Nights of Cloudless Climes', his first novel which is a powerful and engaging full-length narrative of identity, love, faith, and fate. A must-read.
Plot: Udeme, the impotent protagonist, seeks to have a taste of raw sexual pleasure to no avail. He visits brothels, makes friends with prostitutes, yet his manhood fails him at each event. Udeme 's situation is very pathetic because his predicament is not of his own making. Several factors challenge his destiny in this powerfully attractive novel. First is his wicked thief of a father who caused his impotence, next is his mischievous younger brother who does not wish him to shine, another is Huluusha--a secret cult in which his father and his younger brother belong.
Faced with a sad reality of living out his life without a child, Udeme marries a heavily pregnant widow as a getaway from this fear. Williams, who gets to enroll for medical studies in Harvard, is the fruit of this marriage; but would Huluusha cult want Udeme to ever have a life without tugging tears and poverty? Would Dorcas, who has come to replace Williams' run-away mother be faithful to a man who only uses his fingers instead of his pimpim each time they have sex? The ending of this novel will definitely be a joy to good people in this generation, and in generations to come.
