I am Victoria Leachman, and I live in Wellington, New Zealand. I am a GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) professional having worked in museums for my entire career, initially as a museum collection manager, then as a manager of copyright processes within a museum, and now as an executive and people manager making collections more accessible and reuseable for the public. I have managed teams responsible for a research library, corporate archives and records, copyright clearances and processes, collections information management and data and digital preservation workflows, imaging, publishing, and lending collection items.
Historically I contributed to the Wikiverse when I was President of Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand incorporated society (WANZ) - the Aotearoa New Zealand chapter affiliated with Wikimedia Foundation - from its inception as a User Group in 2019 until May 2026. In this role I did on average 3 hours of organising a week including

I also co-founded, co-organised and facilitated two regular user meetups, the Aotearoa New Zealand Online monthly meetup and the Wellington monthly meetup. This has involved working with Ambrosia10 to set up new meta pages for each event, take attendance, facilitate, and tidy up the notes from the meeting. These meetings allow us to share information that is happening in the community and the chapter with other editors, to hear feedback, and to share editing skills with each other.

More recently, after stepping down from the Presidency, I've focused back on editing. My content editing contributions vary. At the moment my key area of interest is working in Wikidata. See my Wikidata contributions

From 21 March 2022 until 31 March 2026 when I left Te Papa, I was a member of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa staff wikipedia editing group and, as a manager, I encouraged the Librarians and other knowledge professionals I managed to participate in professional development sessions about Wikimedia projects and to attend events organised by the Digital Outreach Manager e.g. edit-a-thons and #1Lib1Ref events. I regularly supported the Digital Outreach Manager with her initiatives to share Te Papa's content by attending public events and being an experienced editor on hand to assist newbies.

This list gives more up to date information about my contributions. Note that these articles are mostly created during edit-a-thons organised or funded by Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand. When I have time after my organising duties I work in Wikidata.
I had an alternative account User:Islandbaygardener that I had for a few years but in 2017 I decided to have a clean start so started this account. I've retired the previous account as per the Clean Start process. I decided to make this change to mark a new phase in my contributions and commitment to the wiki-verse.
