From 19th October 1974 to 8th June 1975 Peter Cook terrified the young women of the university town of Cambridge, United kingdom by comitting a serious of burglaries with rape and violence against seven women.
Cook was a convicted thief and burglar who'd served time in prison. He lived in a caravan with his wife in the nearby village of Hardwick, 5 miles from Cambridge. He was a wine and spirits delivery van driver and part-time handy man working in the boathouses dotted along the north bank of the river Cam in the heart of Cambridge.
In the evening of 19th october 1974, a young woman was alone in her top floor flat in Springfield Road, Cambridge. Lying on her bed listening to music, naked apart from a dressing gown, she was suprised when the power was cut to the flat, leaving her in darkness. At the same time she heard a footstep on the landing outside her door, followed by somebody inserting a key and opening the door.
