The names of the Americans held as hostages in Gaza[1]
Edan Alexander: Kidnapped while on patrol at a kibbutz near the Gaza border
Itay Chen: (May his memory be for a blessing) He was killed by Hamas terrorists on October 7, at the age of 19, and his body is still being held in Gaza.
Sagui Dekel-Chen: At 35 years old he was taken hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz by Hamas terrorists. He was released from captivity on February 15, 2025 after 498 days.[2]
Hersh Goldberg-Polin:(May his memory be for a blessing) He was 23 years old when he was kidnapped from the Nova music festival, where his left arm was blown off by one of several hand grenades thrown into a bomb shelter, killing many young music festival attendees. His last texts to his parents were "I love you" and "I'm sorry." He was murdered along with 5 other captives by Hamas terrorists shortly before his body and the 5 others were recovered by the Israel Defense Forces on September 1, 2024. They were held captive for almost 11 months.[3]
Gadi Haggai: (May his memory be for a blessing) At the age of 73 he was murdered by Hamas terrorists while lying in a field near his home on Kibbutz Nir Oz. His body is still being held in Gaza.
Judith Weinstein Haggai: (May her memory be for a blessing) At the age of 70 she was murdered by Hamas terrorists in a field near her home on Kibbutz Nir Oz. Her body, along with her husband's, is still being held in Gaza.
Omer Neutra: (May his memory be for a blessing) At the age of 21, he was removed from his tank as he was protecting innocent civilians from Hamas terrorists who were invading his country. He was last seen on 7 October 2023 lying injured next to his tank.[4] On 2 December 2024, the IDF announced that a committee of experts, based on evidence, concluded that he had been killed on 7 October and his body taken hostage to Gaza. He was born and raised in the United States, and was an American citizen and volunteered to serve in the IDF as a lone soldier.[5] (May his memory be for a blessing.)
Keith Siegel: At the age of 64, he and his wife were taken hostage. His wife Aviva was released on November 26, and Keith was released on 1 February 2025 from captivity in Gaza.[6]
In honor of International Day to Eliminate Violence Against Women, these are the names, ages and faces of the thirteen women cruelly being held as captives by Hamas terrorists, alive and dead as of 27 November 2024.
The following thirteen women are still in captivity (Unless stated otherwise):
* Romi Gonen, 24 (Freed on January 19, 2025)
* Naama Levy, 20 (Freed on January 25, 2025)
* Liri Albag, 19 (Freed on January 25, 2025)
* Ofra Keider, 70 (Killed in Gaza after taken captive on October 7. Body held hostage)[1]
* Shiri Bibas, 33 (Killed in Gaza by terrorists, probably in October or November, 2023,[2] along with her 4-year-old and 9-month-old sons, Ariel and Kfir[3])
* Inbar Hayman, 27 (Kidnapped on October 7, presumed dead, body being held hostage.)[4]
Please see List of Gaza war hostages for the final situation of all the hostages. As of January 2026, the body of one hostage, Ran Gvili, has not been returned to Israel for burial.
Remains of last hostage buried in Israel
On January 26, 2026, the remains of Ran Gvili, an Israeli police officer who had been either injured or killed on October 7, 2023 and kidnapped into Gaza, was returned for burial in Israel.[1] After 843 days, 12 hours, 5 minutes and 59 seconds the clock in Hostages Square in Tel Aviv was stopped when Gvili, the last hostage, was returned home.[2]
