Rennie Harris

Rennie Harris was born in 1964, and grew up in North Philadelphia. His interest in dance was sparked by watching Soul Train. He taught himself "stepping" and by sophomore year of high school joined the "popping" dance crew, The Skanter boys. He is recognized as one of the first choreographers to bring hip-hop dance to the concert stage. Working with famous artists like Salt N' Peppa and Run DMC, Rennie Harris has established himself as an accomplished dancer and choreographer. In 1992 he founded Rennie Harris Puremovement (RHPM) in North Philadelphia. The dance company has most recently worked with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Currently, Rennie Harris teaches a Hip-Hop History course at UCLA.[1][2][3]
