Brock's Rangers ~ 114th Infantry Battalion ~ Canadian Expeditionary Force
The 114th Battalion (Brock's Rangers) was raised December 22,1915 in Haldimand County with the mobilization headquarters at Cayuga under the command of Lt. Col. Edwy Sutherland Baxter. Due to typhoid, Lt. Col. Baxter died prematurely in his military career at the age of 38 years while forming the 114th and was replaced by Lt. Col. Andrew Thorburn Thompson. Many who joined the ranks of the 114th Battalion previously served with the 37th Haldimand Rifles (Militia).

Attached to the Battalion was a 30 piece band which was made up soldiers from the Six Nations Reserve at Ohsweken and their numbers were part of the 52 Staff.
In July of 1916, the 114th was transported to Camp Borden at Barrie,Ontario and once their training was completed they were transported to Halifax, N.S.. Embarkation (S.S. Coronia) October 31, 1916 and they disembarked in Liverpool, England.
Within a 30 day period after their arrival, the 114th was broken up and absorbed into the 35th and 36th Infantry Battalions. Brock's Rangers did not see action as it had been formed in Haldimand County, Ontario.
Honour Roll of the 114th Battalion as printed in the Haldimand Advocate ~ Thursday, December 26, 1918. Officers, N.C.O's and men who lost their lives totalled 80 men.
The 114th was disbanded September 15th, 1920.
