Brandon Lane is a up and coming basketball player that plays for the Starkville Academy VOLS in Starkville Mississippi. He played AAU basketball In Atlanta GA, Jackson MS, and Dallas TX. At the age of 12 he found the love for the game Of basketball, but he started playing long before that at the of 5. Brandon is just a freshman but he a force when he gets going. In the 6th grade Brandon started playing organized basketball he was very raw but he could play. In the 7th grade Brandon had issues in the classroom when he was in public school. But he still played in the summer until him and his father decided to spend him to Starkville Academy. When he played in the summer for Armstrong Middle School he was still a force when he stepped on the floor. He had to quit playing with the Yellow Jackets than summer, because he moved schools to Starkville Academy. As soon as he got enrolled there he went to work on the court and off the court to become a better student as well as a better basketball player. Since he came late in the summer the head basketball coach didn't let him start practing until the end of summe, when I talked to the coach he wasn't a very good coach in my eyes. When the season started Brandon moved on the 8th grade. The season went down hill very, very quickly. But this coach wasn't very good at all at coach the team never ran plays, the games they played didn't have any type of plan going into the game. After a terrible season, summer basketball started back with a new head coach. This coach when I talked to him sounded like a very good coach. Brandon was about to go into the 9th grade after the summer Brandon's game went to a whole new level. He could shoot the 3 and he could work the medium range game. He could drive left, right. When the 2011-2012 season started it was a huge turn around led by Brandon. Closer to the end of the season Brandon and the VOLS went to the tournment playing against Hillcrest. The VOLS played Hillcrest twice the 2 games were tide at 1-1. In the tournment the led Hillcrest by 6 at halftime. Then Hillcrest went on a run winning by 4. After the game I talked to Brandon about working hard all season and all off season and how it felt losing after all that hard work. Brandon told me " It was a good season but we just came up short at the end where it matter the most." Then I asked him what was his plans for the off season he replied " I'm going to get back gym as much as I can and practice on my over all game, and help my team mates get better as well as myself. This time next season I'm going to be talking to you about a win, not a lost." This kid Brandon Lane he has a future in the basketball game.
