Babalooo, Babalooo! Ricky Ricardo
Babalooo is another spelling of the word Babalu. Babalu was a word used in Latin dance clubs; specifically Cuban dance clubs during the 1920's. The character of Ricky Ricardo on the classic TV comedy series "I Love Lucy" said and sang the word often. The word originally refers to "Babalú-ayé", an orisha or deity in the Santería religion. Babaloo is a third spelling. There is a Hollywood writer named Babaloo Mandel, and a Wikipedia editor (me) named Babalooo.
