BDRM muse (stylised as BDRM muse) is a Bruneian music producer trio formed in 2020 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, consisting of Mat Fadhil, MHI and Yazid Rahman. BDRM muse's debut EP, Tape #801, was released 1 January 2021, followed by their first single, Paris, on 9 April 2021.

Background

2017–2019: Early years

Mat Fadhil and MHI met while studying at Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre, where they were members of the institution’s Music Club. The two later met Yazid Rahman upon enrolling at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).

Mat Fadhil began releasing music as a solo artist in 2017, debuting with the single "Rooftop Lovers". He subsequently collaborated with MHI, releasing tracks including "sumn", "unme", and "Everywhere I Go" in 2018. Yazid Rahman joined the group during the production of "its u", released on 5 December 2018, following which the group adopted the name Mat Fadhil x MHI x YazidR.

The trio made their first public performance at Bask in the Night Vol. 2, organised by BigBWN Project, which featured their then newly released song "its u".

The trio also collaborated with their university friends HMZH and Zaki Akmal, producing the single "Never Like This" in 2019.

2020: Bedroom Muse

On 22 December 2020, the trio adopted the name "Bedroom Muse", in which they posted a teaser on Instagram to announce the new name.[1] The name was inspired by their practice of creating music in their bedrooms. They had also previously referred to themselves as bedroom musicians. [2]

2021: Tape #801

On 1 January 2021, Bedroom Muse published their debut EP, Tape #801, which was a collection of five tracks and featured a blend of contemporary R&B and Japanese city pop influences.

Following the EP, the trio released the single Paris, which further established their presence on digital streaming platforms and contributed to their growing recognition in the Brunei music scene.

Throughout the year, Bedroom Muse released three music videos. These included “Summertime in June,” the lead track from Tape #801, in collaboration with CliqRaw, a self-produced video for Paris, and “Make You Mine,” another track from the EP, in collaboration with Flaire Visuals.

They also released a festive single titled "Wishin' for You" in December.

2022: First Collaboration

In 2022, Bedroom Muse collaborated with Seri Laila Irama for "Projek Raya 2022", covering "Balik Kampung" by Sudirman and featuring vocals from Atikah Thane.

They also performed live at HuruHara, an exclusive event organised by Iski Musik, where they shared the stage with other Bruneian artists.

2023: BDRM muse

In February 2023, the trio released their third single "Best I Could", which was also their first track submitted to local Brunei radio stations.

On 24 August 2023, the trio announced via an Instagram story that they had rebranded their name to BDRM muse.

The trio later released the single "coffee" on 7 October 2023, in conjunction with the International Coffee Day.

2024: Projects, Achievements and International Debut

In April 2024, BDRM muse collaborated once again with Seri Laila Irama for Projek Raya 2024, covering Seminggu Berhari Raya by Senario.

The trio was also recognised as Pelangi FM's Artist of the Month for April 2024.

In September 2024, BDRM muse was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, to perform at the 2024 Asia Culture Centre (ACC) World Music Festival in Gwangju, Republic of Korea under the Next Generation Musician Programme, where they shared the stage with Vietnamese group V-Wave and Thai group Seathencity.

BDRM muse was nominated for the Top 5 Best New Artist at Anugerah Pelangi 9 in September, in which they won the Best New Artist award at Festival Media Kreatif 2024 in December, marking a significant milestone in their career.
