Dina Rihan is an Egyptian sculptor and ceramist known for her contemporary interpretations of traditional Egyptian art forms. She serves as a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University. Rihan earned her doctorate in ceramic sculpture, conducting research and artistic experiments at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Cardiff Metropolitan University in England. Her academic pursuits have also involved projects utilizing digital technologies, such as 3D printing, at the School of Art and Design in Wales.  
Rihan’s artistic work is deeply influenced by Egyptian heritage, particularly Coptic and Islamic art. She focuses on “humanizing architecture,” drawing inspiration from Egyptian architecture, especially in Alexandria, her birthplace and residence. Her sculptures often blend human forms with architectural elements, reflecting her fascination with the interplay of light and shadow in structures. This approach is evident in her ceramic sculptures, which incorporate symbolic forms and colors to explore the relationship between architecture and the human figure. 
In December 2021, Rihan held an exhibition titled “Coptic Icons” at the Mahmoud Saeed Museum, coinciding with the celebration of Christmas. The exhibition featured eleven ceramic sculptures inspired by ancient Coptic art, showcasing her ability to merge diagnosis, abstraction, and symbolism in her work. 
Rihan has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, symposia, and workshops. She is a member of the Syndicate of Fine Artists and the Alexandria Atelier, as well as international organizations such as Sculpture Network and the International Sculpture Center. Her work has been showcased in countries including Italy, France, and Sweden.  
In August 2022, Rihan held a personal exhibition titled “Between Two Rivers and the Nile” in Jönköping, Sweden, in collaboration with Iraqi potter Laith Abbas. The exhibition featured twelve new ceramic sculptures and a painting using various materials, including papyrus. Through her work, Rihan aims to promote Egyptian heritage and highlight the significance of the Nile. 
In October 2024, Rihan represented Egypt at the exhibition “Russia and BRICS Members in a Cultural Dimension” held at the Russian House in Rome. She presented a ceramic sculpture titled “Unity,” which explores the concept of unity among people of different races, backgrounds, and religions. The piece draws inspiration from Egyptian architectural elements, merging Coptic and Islamic art through motifs inspired by Coptic textiles. The unglazed natural clay symbolizes the idea that humans are created from clay, emphasizing the unity of humanity. This work reflects Rihan’s commitment to issues of identity and belonging, offering a vision that transcends cultural and religious boundaries.   
Rihan’s dedication to preserving and celebrating Egyptian culture through her art and education has made her a distinguished figure in the contemporary art scene. Her work continues to bridge the past and present, fostering cultural dialogue both locally and internationally.
