Bro. Albert Xaviour was born at Kanyakumari District, South Tamilnadu, India. He hails from a fisherman family. After receiving his early education at Kanyakumari, he joint in the congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SHJ). He owns the degree in Bachelor of Arts (English Literature) and three master’s, in Social Work (MSW), in Human Rights and in English Literature. He obtained a diploma in Christian Spirituality from Adhyatma Vidya Pitham, Bangalore, which is affiliated to the Teresianum University, Rome. He is a fine blend of a Social Activist, Educationalist, Humanist and Human Rights Defender.

Social Activist

As an MSW holder Bro. Albert serves for the development of the youth, tribal communities and child & women empowerment in Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, India since 2010. He also organizes community development awareness programs and income generation programs for the development of the poor and marginalized communities. He worked as Director in Caussanel Foundation for Education and Development (CAFED) at Venkatapuram, Telangana in 2014.

Educationalist He also worked as a regional manager in Optim communication training center, Tamilandu to pounder the communication skills among the young generation to sharpen their careers. He worked as an English teacher at Sacred Heart School, Indore, Madhya Pradesh in 2008 – 2010, and at Angelo ITI in Andhra Pradesh from 20110 to 2014 and also at Sacred Heart College of Arts & Science, Khammam, Telangana State from 2014-2017. Bro. Albert also worked as a Secretary of Sacred Heart College of Arts and Science through which he provided education to the poor and marginalized Tribal and Dalit Students in Khammam District, Telangana State, India from 2014 to 2017. Human Rights Defender

In March 2004, he was selected for Asian RFYN meet organized by International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF) in India. The RFYN meet provided him bundle of knowledge and provoked to organize many more interfaith activities for the young people to promote interfaith in India. He registered his presence in three IARF world congresses; Taiwan in 2006, Cochin- India in 2010 and Birmingham- United Kingdom in 2014. He served as an International Council member of IARF representing from young adults from 2010 to 2014 and visited Japan thrice for council meet. (www.iarf.net)

The commitment towards the Interfaith and Human Rights activities of Br. Albert Xaviour, inspired for the South Asian Coordinating Council of IARF, who recommended him for the Human Rights Facilitators training program organized by IARF at Ramakrishna Mission at Kolkata in 2005. The training program helped him to become a prudent Human Rights Defender and magnetized him to serve the society till today in the field of Human Rights Education. He also have participated three international human rights training programs, (Nederland’s, Japan and Taiwan). Recently he also has participated another International Human Rights Education Training program organized by Equitas at Montreal, Canada for 21 days (4 – 25 June 2016). This program has given him a platform to meet many scholars from United Nation and human rights defenders from the globe.

Achievement

He has organized five international young adults’ conferences in India and also interfaith meetings in Tamilnadu, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Br. Albert conducted more-than 63 Human Rights Education program in all over India and Sri-Lanka for the students of Universities and Colleges. This has brought drastic changes in the life of young people and promoted them as human rights defender. He has published Human Rights Education handbook for participants and designed the Human Rights Education training module for facilitators. He also organized two young adults cultural exchange programs for the students from USA and India at Marurai, Tamilnadu, in 2013 and in 2015 the exchange program was organized for the young adults from Japan and India at Chennai, Tamilnadu. He was invited by Unitarian Universalist of USA to present a paper on Human Rights Education in India at Columbus, USA in 26 June 2016. (See.www.iarfhrrc.org)

Today 

At present Bro. Albert is serving as a director of IARF- Human Rights Resource Centre, India and providing Human Rights Educations to the youth of Universities and Colleges in South Asia. Also the Institute of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart has appointed him as the Director of Brothers Integrated Rural Development Society (BIRDS), Bangalore in 2017. (See.www.birdsbrothers.org)
