    The track remains in use form St. Clair through Lacey and then is abandoned from 200 yards west of Fones Road to Downtown Olympia. Before this latter part was abandoned, the line passed over both Interstate 5 and the Union Pacific Railroad. Now, Burnlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, the successor fo the Northern Pacific Railroad, has access to downtown Olympia over the Union Pacific Railroad right of way from East Olympia. The original Northern Pacific Railroad right of way becomes recognizable again as the tracks curve into the tunnel running underneath 7th Avenue. After emergine at the west end of the tunnel, the line bends around the site of the downtown Olympia Station, which is the subject o the illustration for this chapter.
