The Walter Bishop Jr. Trio / 1965 is an album by pianist Walter Bishop Jr. compiling sessions recorded in 1962 and 1963 which was released on the Prestige label in 1970.[1] The album compiles tracks previously released on the albums A Pair of "Naturals" (Operators, 1962) and Summertime (Cotillion, 1963).
The AllMusic reviewer Scott Yanow wrote: "Bishop plays a great deal of music in a short period of time. The performances are essentially classic bebop, although 11 of the 16 tunes (five by Bishop) can be considered obscurities. An underrated gem".[2]
