I think the longest common substring and longest common subsequence problems deserve mention in this template, but where to put them? First, thanks for your additions.
Go ahead and put the common subs in the template. I just started copying links from See also sections and sticking them somewhere (such as other). When enough popped out, I'd start a new heading. Some heads are screwy; string metric confuses measure and algorithm. You know more about this stuff than I do. I think sorting is better left out; there's already a sorting algorithm template. Sorting uses a string order, but sorting is usually done on records rather than strings. I didn't just do it because we don't have a topic about ordering strings (lexographic order). There's also that Unicode collation algorithm. (Unicode also has its own template.)
