Talk:Triple

Obviously, the third activity "offer his services as a soldier of fortune" does not follow the first two activities. This may be found humorous.

Is it just me who found that humorous? Really....Datepalm17 14:58, 25 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Information on Triples in Humor Variants

I had submitted a modification on this topic discussing triples with more than three items in the list.

The triple is not necessarialy limited to three items. A longer list of four or five items could be considered a triple as well.

It was deleted (correctly, I think) for the following reason.

Deleted triples in four or five terms - at least needs an explanation of some sort

I am trying to come up with a new phrasing that would be more explanatory, any suggestions?

My first attempt:

The triple is not necessarialy limited to three items. A longer list of four or five items (or more) could be considered a triple as well, as long as the items follow the same pattern as a traditional triple (i.e., a list of multiple related items, ending with a humorously dissimilar one).

Any comments?

Sorry, I still think it's kind of silly, though I contributed to the article Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll myself - about a triple in four terms. A triple is a triple, and a joke is a joke. Jokes may achieve an effect by breaking any pattern or expectation.--Niels Ø 19:00, May 20, 2005 (UTC)

Triple letters and numbers

There are some articles about triple letters and numbers, for example AAA (Triple A redirects there), and 777. Could these be added in this article? Maybe in a 'See also' section? Wiki-uk 14:09, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
