Talk:Thermos LLC

Scope

The scope of this article is no longer quite right. It began as an article about the US subsidiary, under its various names, but is now primarily about the brand name and product line (which is a trademark administered by over 100 Thermos companies in various countries, all now probably owned by the same Japanese mega-corp). The immediate parent company Thermos GmbH even redirects here.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:12, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Some sort of sense needs to be made of how a German idea came to be represnted by a Norwich company for close to 100 years. That story is completely obscured by this article. ~2026-21823-39 (talk) 06:23, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Requested move notice

Please see: Talk:Thermos (disambiguation)#Requested move 7 December 2019. That RM proposes to move Thermos (disambiguation) to Thermos, but there is an alternative proposal to move Thermos LLC to Thermos.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:14, 8 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thermos (Europe)

Hello Fellow Wikipedian Editors, I would like to add some more details regarding the UK and German-based Thermos sites - would it be better to start a new article "Thermos Ltd"? I worked for Thermos UK between 1990-1994 but I need to seek source for exact information.Cnotrees (talk) 12:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your interest. Wikipedia relies on citations to sources so the sources you have determines the answer. I posted some links to get started on your user talk page. Best wishes Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:17, 12 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes I remember the plant in Brentwood, as I did myself my nurse training in Warley in the centre of Brentwood and next door to Thermos was an awesome army surplus store I visited a lot. 92.25.9.56 (talk) 19:43, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I have submitted a draft article Thermos (Europe) for consideration that focusses on Thermos Ltd and Thermos GmbH. Thanks for the comments on citations.Cnotrees (talk) 10:11, 18 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thermos bottles

A description of how Thermos bottles work, how they are double glass tubes, with a vacuum, and an outer 'handling' layer would be very useful. (And the design of their stopper mechanisms and stabilizing mechanisms,) would be useful. But too much to expect from wikipedia. ~2026-21823-39 (talk) 06:29, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

This article is about the company. If you look up "thermos", you get redirected to Vacuum Flask which is the article you're looking for. ApLundell (talk) 00:50, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
