River reclamation appears to be synonymous with Stream restoration. The former term appears to be more commonly used in the UK, while the latter term is used in the US. Moreau1 (talk) 03:14, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi all, I am planning on expanding this article by adding information on various aspects of stream restoration, such as the distinction between form-based and process-based restoration. All constructive feedback will be welcome.

Does anyone have a reference to document the statement that "river reclamation" is a more common term in the UK?

The former "River reclamation" article cited the Brookes text (1988), which in turn cited this section of a 1984 book:

• Winget, R.N. (1984). "Methods for determining successful reclamation of stream ecosystems." In Successful Reclamation of Stream Ecosystems. (ed. Gore, J.A.) Butterwoth, London.

I found one additional reference which uses the term in its title.

• Wesche, T.A. 1985. "Stream channel modifications and reclamation structures to enhance fish habitat." pp. 103-163 in J.A. Gore, ed. The restoration of rivers and streams. Butterworth.

Hi, thanks for the info. I did a quick search on the Web and the term appears to be used in North America as well (although less frequently than "stream restoration"). Consequently, I have reworded the first sentence and removed the reference to the UK.
