This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

I disagree with this assessment. Both terms are acceptable, but "present simple" is the more commonly used. Compare the following Google hits:

• simple present (NOT present simple) = 181,000 hits
• present simple (NOT simple present) = 1,150,000 hits
• simple present (NOT present simple) on U.S. university websites = 11,300 hits
• present simple (NOT simple present) on U.S. university websites = 25,800 hits

While Google hits are by no means definitive, I think these figures (from both popular and academic sources) give enough support to keep the page where it is. —Zach425 ^talk/contribs 05:07, 12 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
