This article appears to be of an appropriate length for the subject matter under discussion. It is also appropriately categorized and wikified.

By nature, stubbing and tagging articles devalues them, giving them an aura of unreliability and making them seem less credible. As part of my personal campaign to free up articles that have been stubbed and tagged without cause, this article has been disenstubbified.

Someone has carefully decapitalised the headings of sections in this article. I have undone this edit because:- 1) In the English language (as written in England) initial letter capitalisation of headings where the heading is not in upper case or caps throughout is considered correct. 2) You will note that in the authorities quoted in support of the entry there are a number of examples as to how this is applied.

Wikipedia authors should attempt to get grammar, spelling and punctuation right according to the national standards, which in this case I understand to be English, the Queen's English, or whatever applies to "en". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roaringboy (talk • contribs) 18:17, 25 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

This article seems so brief as to be misleading, as well as just plain misleading--for example, all of the Orenburg shawls that I've seen are clearly knitted, not woven, nor is there any mention of Shetland shawls, which tend to be rectangular (I think) rather than the triangular Faroese; nor any mention of Estonian shawls, which, like Shetland, are also of the "wedding-ring" repute: large, gossamer, knitted shawls that could be drawn through a woman's wedding ring, they were so light and fine. There was also, at least in the second half of the 20th century, the popularity of crocheted shawls.

Was there some other intent for this article, or would it be reasonable to expand it?

I do not believe the photo of an Hesquiat woman wrapped in a shawl is really of anything one could call a shawl or else anything draped over the head and/or shoulders could be called a shawl. That woman is covering herself with a poorly woven mat which cannot be called a shawl. In my opinion the photo should be removed as there are many other photographs much more representative and illustrative of what a shawl is. GS3 (talk) 20:16, 15 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
