This article contains a significant amount of hidden text. I'm not sure if that's a good thing in general, but I have a specific complaint about the way it's being implemented: we now have numerous tags to begin hiding and end hiding that are not laid out logically. For example, there are sections of hidden text that cross logical boundaries, such as when a "begin hiding" tag is placed inside a subordinate item of a list, but the corresponding "end hiding" tag is placed somewhere inside a different list, thus hiding a great deal of material in an unpredictable and difficult-to-edit way.

It should be easy for other editors to see the logic of what you are in the middle of doing, so that it's obvious to them whether the detail they're editing will be visible or invisible. And, to be maybe too frank, it should be easy at all times for others to disagree with your plans and to change the article, including when you consider yourself to be "in the middle of editing this section".

Maybe a shorthand way of saying this is that I'm requesting that articles be perpetually kept "finished", without any person's individual "editing machinery" (whether weirdly placed hide tags or anything else) getting in the way of simple easy changes by others.

Or maybe this: the idea "Careful, you're editing someone else's work" should not exist. I'm NOT editing someone else's work, I'm editing the article. TooManyFingers (talk) 11:46, 1 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

When he died the article contained a detailed list of his compositions and not much else. The list is now - with added sources - a separate article. However, we retained it commented out because it might help to expand his article, - it's easier to copy within one article than from another. If it helps it can be removed, of course. There were more urgent things to do, for his article and now one about a soprano, than cleaning up. - There's no finished - ever ;) - I'll clean up a bit right now. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:27, 1 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

I removed now the hidden text coming from the works list. I retained some information in the discography (where it seemed overly detailed but others may disagree and want to bring it back) and the awards, where it is not yet sourced, but might lead to search for sources. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:41, 1 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
