"Lighter weight equates to less steel ...." is a chicken and egg statement. Also, lower weight does not necessarily equate to less cost as implied. I can easily design a complex geometry that optimizes material but is expensive to manufacture. Some manufacturing design software does not optimize for manufactured cost as overtly as for minimized steel weight. I think that the writer may have more ideas to communicate that they have not fully developed in the statement.Extraordinary Spaces (talk) 03:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pre Engineered buildings are the alternate solution for conventional RCC buildings in industrial applications. It has lot of advantages like, faster construction, easy design, comparitively less cost etc.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jagathnivasan (talkcontribs) 13:36, 17 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Propose to merge this article into Prefabricated building article

This article causes Conceptual Overlap. Pre Engineered Buildings are a subset of Prefabricated Buildings, as PEBs are typically manufactured offsite and then assembled onsite. Both articles likely discuss overlapping topics, such as manufacturing methods, cost-efficiency, and use cases, leading to redundancy. Readers searching for information about prefabricated structures often expect to find insights about pre-engineered buildings in the same place. The terms “prefabricated” and “pre-engineered” are often used interchangeably, depending on the region or industry, which could confuse readers. A unified article can clarify their relationship and differences. Primecommerce142 (talk) 15:13, 5 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

you’re right about the terms being used interchangeably. people don’t always know the difference, and splitting them into two articles might just confuse readers more. having one article that explains how PEBs are a type of prefabricated building could make things way clearer. like, it could talk about how PEBs focus more on steel and industrial use, while prefabricated buildings can include other materials and purposes. 2001:EE0:1B38:6B5F:B477:8815:235F:5DAE (talk) 15:09, 7 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
