An example would be calling all hospitals to look for your missing child, but not checking morgues, as finding his corpse would be 'counter-productive.'

Yeah, I found this interesting as well, but there is no citation within the philosophy link. Unfortunately, the person that added this information some years ago was an IP address, so I cannot ask them for a citation (and having trouble finding something useful on Google Scholar myself).
