Talk:Planar process

"The planar process is a manufacturing process used in the semiconductor industry to build individual components of a transistor, and in turn, connect those transistors together. It is the primary process by which modern integrated circuits are built."

This is a good statement, clear, simple and explanatory.

On the other hand, this statement, "The process was developed[1][2] by Jean Hoerni, one of the "traitorous eight", while working at Fairchild Semiconductor." is false.

The process was developed at Baldwin by Frances Hugle in the early fifties and is the subject of her patent filed in 1956, Semi-conductive Films and Methods of Producing Them, http://www.google.com/patents/US3226271?pg=PA2&dq=frances+hugle&hl=en&sa=X&ei=lwejUMv6FsTRyAGQ5IDQCw&ved=0CDoQ6AEwAjgK#v=onepage&q=frances%20hugle&f=false and http://www.freepatentsonline.com/2994621.pdf

The original patent's claims were split and the various claims were awarded on two separate dates, in 1961 and 1965.

Arab and Egyptian Invention

Every source that i checked says that it was invented by Jean Hoerni. As such I will remove Arab inventions and Egyptian inventions categories DMKR2005 (talk) 04:54, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
