Think version 4 should clarify "the acquisition?" I'm not very familiar with the product and came here to learn about it, and it took me a minute to realize BEA must've purchased WebLogic at some point.

I reverted an earlier revision to my comment: "At this point, the founders worked together to pursue what was eventually to be called the Application Server" because I meant exactly what I said. Is this 'encyclopedic' language?  : and was called T3Server (a bastardization of 3-Tier Server). Don't get me wrong; I don't mind. But it sounds a little... out of place.!!

I was told by an ex-BEA employee providing an Oracle WebLogic course that T3 referred to JDBC type3, which is what WebLogic was trying to be at the time, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JDBC_driver#Type_3_Driver_-_Network-Protocol_Driver rather than a linguistic corruption of "3 tier architecture". Oracle Weblogic Server was created by copy-paste from BEA WebLogic rather than by moving, because of which the histories are split in two. The below is an attempt to capture the split histories, so it can be merged.

• 16 October 2008 - Created by User:Nileshpj by copying from BEA WebLogic, probably this version of 9 October 2008.

BEA WebLogic

• 22 June 2004 - Created by 63.96.164.186
• 9 January 2009 - Final edit before getting redirected
• 14 January 2009 - Redirected to Oracle Weblogic Server by User:Osja
• Number of edits between 9 October 2008 and 9 January 2009 - 5
• Number of edits in the same period for Oracle Weblogic Server - 7

I have merged the histories. The sequence now is from old to new - all versions of BEA WebLogic from start (2004) to the version of 9 October 2008, followed by all versions of Oracle Weblogic Server from start (16 October 2008) to present.
