Talk:Nuclear data

When we talk about nuclear data, we should not concentrate on the reaction and nuclear modeling only. Nuclear reactions and modeling are very important however it is a much broader field: 1) There is nuclear structure and many nuclear physicists use "Table of Isotopes" on a regular basis. Nowadays "Table of Isotopes" is replaced by Web "Chart of Nuclides" at the National Nuclear Data Center (http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/chart). 2) There is also nuclear bibliography with Nuclear Science References Database at the NNDC (http://www.nndc.bnl.gov/nsr). 3) There is a huge nuclear data dissemination effort:

     a) Originally it started from "Nuclear Data" Journal and was divided into "Atomic Data and
Nuclear Data Tables" and "Nuclear Data Sheets" journals.
     b) Nuclear Data Web Services that originated at Brookhaven/Berkeley Labs ~25 years ago as Telnet,
see: Nuclear Reaction and Structure Data Services of the National Nuclear Data Center,
        B. Pritychenko, A.A. Sonzogni, D.F. Winchell, et al., Annals of Nuclear Energy 33 (2006) 390.
     c) It is nice that you mentioned NDS, IAEA dissemination website however it will be even better if
you also give some credit to NNDC website (http://www.nndc.bnl.gov).

4) You have to explain compilation and evaluation efforts (someone has to create nuclear data libraries).

Finally, it will be nice to give credit to different data centers, nuclear data networks (wpec, nrdc, nnsdd), U.S. nuclear data program, CSEWG and funding agencies who generously paid for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.199.3.130 (talk) 22 April 2010 (UTC)
