There is confusion with respect to how MRP is being used in the Article. Note the opening paragraph:

"Multiple Registration Protocol (MRP), which replaced Generic Attribute Registration Protocol (GARP), is a generic registration framework defined by the IEEE 802.1ak amendment to the IEEE 802.1Q standard. MRP allows bridges, switches or other similar devices to be able to register and de-register attribute values, such as VLAN identifiers and multicast group membership across a large LAN. MRP operates at the Data Link Layer."

Continuing down to the "History" paragraph

History

"Multiple VLAN Registration Protocol (MVRP) was introduced in order to replace GARP, with the IEEE 802.1ak amendment in 2007. The two GARP applications were also modified in order to use MRP. GMRP was replaced by Multiple MAC Registration Protocol (MMRP) and GVRP was replaced by MVRP.

The paragraph is confusing; it states that MVRP was used to replace GARP (which is incorrect), then continues on to state that MVRP replaces GVRP--which is correct. Note that 802.1ak amendement specifically calls it out as Multiple Registration Protocol, not MVRP^[1]. MVRP is an implantation of MRP.

This had been changed to MRP earlier, but then was reverted back on October 1st, 2014 @ 1400 with a rather terse explanation of reverting on good faith attempt, but not explaining the why. I intend to revert the sentence back to the following:

"Multiple Registration Protocol (MRP) was introduced in order to replace GARP."

But rather than do so abruptly, I'd like to know why my change is a "bad idea." Am I missing something obvious?

First time doing this, so this is an exercise in learn-by-doing.
