Last names

Shouldn't at least famous people with lewis as a surname be added to this disambiguation page, e.g. C.S. Lewis, as I personally came to this page looking for Lewis. David Mulder - GreatSlovakia (talk) 17:27, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Necessary?

Was it really necessary to redirect to the disambig pages for when there are several people with the same name, since the information was already right there for the reader? Chris 17:25, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

What is the point of having all that information maintained on two separate pages? If someone fixes or adds a George Lewis, they would have to go to two places to do it. If you want them all on one page, have the George Lewis, John Lewis, etc. disambig pages redirect here - but don't have them in two places. wknight94 17:50, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

That redirect here sounds best, as this would be the larger venue for genealogists and such. Chris 17:56, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good to me. Make it so!  :) You might want to look at the zillion or so other full name disambig pages and do the same - William Smith, George Brown, Fred Jones (disambiguation), etc., etc. wknight94 18:00, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
BTW, Category:Human name disambiguation would be a place to start but i'm sure far less than half are represented there. wknight94 18:02, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Lewis main page - relocation proposal

I am putting a proposal in the talk page of Lewis that Lewis be moved to "Isle of Lewis" and the disambig page moved to Lewis (or just no article at "Lewis"). This is because of an endless stream of people vandalising the "isle of lewis" article with messages for friends called "Lewis". If you are interested, please comment on the Lewis talk page.MRM 11:36, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

There should certainly be an article at "Lewis", either the island, the surname, or the dab page. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:07, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Move discussion in progress

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Lewis which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 12:02, 18 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The discussion is now at Talk:Isle of Lewis. Verbcatcher (talk) 21:27, 26 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism target

This page has been the target of vandalism by several IPs recently, perhaps it should be protected. An guy with one grammatical error (talk) 08:29, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
