I noticed this article does not cite any references or sources. According to Wikipedia policy, all articles should be verifiable. What is the reason the tag stating thins was removed? Martijn Hoekstra 19:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

In principle, Wikipedia articles don't coun't as reliable sources (as anyone can edit them). The first line with the definition seems fine though. On the other hand, "In most languages labels take the form of an identifier, often followed by a punctuation character (e.g., a colon). Some languages (e.g., Fortran, BASIC) support numeric labels." is an unreferenced statement, and neither the Fortran, nor the BASIC article mention labels. Even if they did, we could easily take over the sourcing from that article, but they still would need to be copied. Thing is that I just don't quite understand is why you think it's "Completely over the top tagging", when the tag is nothing more than a reminder that there are no references in the article, and that adding them is a good idea (which I believe it is). Completely unrelated though, how would you feel about merging 'label' with 'goto', as they are so closely connected? Martijn Hoekstra 00:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

What you say is true. However, adding this tag to such a small article is stating the obvious and being a bit pedantic. This tag could probably be added to most of the short Wikipedia articles. Derek farn 17:34, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

And in my oppinion all unreferenced articles should have unreferenced tags. I saw another option recently, adding a References section, and placing the tag there. But to come back on my other point, what do you think about a merge?Martijn Hoekstra 22:12, 8 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The parenthetical seems confusing. They say "Python (programming language)" for the Python programming language and "Go (programming language)" for the Go programming language. Here, since this article for labels has the same parenthetical "Label (programming language)", it looks like "Label" is a programming language in itself. How about taking the "language" part out, and just calling the article "Label (programming)"? Wuffyz 14:26, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
