I request adding a new subsection under the Demographics section titled (Caste Classification and Rajput Identity) to improve verifiability and align with WP:RAJ and WP:V policies.

Caste Classification and Rajput Identity

The Hindu and Sikh Kamboj communities are officially classified under Rajput subgroups. According to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Annual Update Report 2022, Kamboj are listed as a Suryavanshi and Agnivanshi Rajput within OBC Classification.[1]

Ethnographic research conducted by the Anthropological Survey of India, as documented in "People of India" by K.S Singh (1996), identifies the Kamboj as a Rajput subgroup linked to Suryavanshi and Raghuvanshi lineages in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.[2] Colonial-era ethnographic works such as "Glossary of Tribes and Castes" by H.A Rose described the Kamboj as a martial community associated with Rajput clans in India.[3]

In contemporary Classifications, the Hindu and some Sikh Kambojs are widely regarded as Rajputs and predominantly identity as Kamboj Rajputs in North India.

Not done In the K. S. Singh reference, I'm not seeing where it says the Kamboj is a Rajput subgroup specifically -- it has a "sections" listing for Kamboj with a bunch of groups, which happen to include Rajput and Suryavanshi and Raghuvanshi, but it doesn't seem like those groups are listed differently or given more importance than the other ~20 listed. The last part of your request posits that a position is "widely regarded" yet offers no references to support that claim. Lastly, the H. A. Rose reference links to a completely different text on archive.org ("Karl Marx Frederick Engles Volume-11 Marx Amp Engels 1851-53"). --tony 23:05, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

hello,
As in wikipedias article of Kamadhenu, we can clearly see that kambojas, were originated fron the roar of the sacred cow, and the after the kambojas just migrate from one to other place, thats why they are linked with inranian and many other places, but as hinduism is the oldest religion and in its holy book Ramayana, there is mention of the origin of kambojas, and if anyone thinks that, Ramayana is fictional, so can they prove the satellite image of Ramsetu? ~2026-25778-97 (talk) 18:13, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Change Devanagari spelling in the lead from कंबोज to कम्बोज.

Explanation: The correct Devanagari spelling of Kamboj is कम्बोज, which reflects the actual consonant sequence म् + ब (mba) found in the historically attested Sanskrit form Kamboja/Kamboj. In Devanagari, this sequence is properly written as the conjunct म्ब. The currently used spelling कंबोज replaces म् with the dot ं (anusvāra). While this is common in modern Hindi as a shorthand pronunciation-based convention, it is not the precise or etymological spelling of the name. Classical Sanskrit dictionaries and scholarly sources consistently record the form with म्ब, not anusvāra. Since the article lists Devanagari spellings alongside other formal scripts (Nastaliq, Gurmukhi, ALA-LC), the Devanagari form should likewise use the accurate and standard spelling कम्बोज, with कंबोज at most being a modern Hindi variant rather than the canonical form. स्वर्ण (talk) 10:23, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please consider adding the following sourced information to the Kamboj article:

Ancient Indian literary sources associate the Kambojas with Kshatriya traditions. The Manusmriti (10.43–44) includes the Kambojas among groups described as having originally been Kshatriyas, although the text states that they subsequently became degraded in status through the omission of prescribed rites and Brahmanical practices.

The Vamsha Brahmana of the Samaveda preserves the name Kamboja Aupamanyava in a lineage of Vedic teachers. Kamboja Aupamanyava is presented as a teacher in the succession of Vedic learning.
