Jerry Lewis Spoke Japanese?

Upon seeing a partial interview of Dean Martin he had a comment on how Martin had never had the ability to speak Japanese as Lewis had. Which brings up the question: Did Jerry Lewis actually speak Japanese, or was he only mimicking Japanese as most Americans always thought?

How did someone think that photo of Lewis was from 1973?

It's definately pre-Nutty Professor era like around the time The Bellhop came out ~2026-36700-19 (talk) 10:55, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Spoke Japanese?

I don't think so, but I am curious if he got some lessons with basic phrases... He did go to Japan to research for The Geisha Boy, and he did go to Japan 25 times to talk with Sony about video capture technology

"Jerry met with Sony in Japan 25 times before they invented the “video assist” for him, used by movie directors today"

But I can't see him burning through 30 weeks to get good at it with a busy life but you never know if he knew a bunch of greetings and stuff ~2026-36700-19 (talk) 11:04, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
