Talk:Internet Data Exchange

I've got a question on usage.

The article defines an IDX as a kind of website. Later it refers to an "IDX website." If an IDX is by definition a website, wouldn't saying "IDX website" be like calling a banana a "banana fruit"? :)

I'm guessing you can use it either way but I'm not experienced enough with the world of IDX to know.

MLS boards have databases of listings. Interned Data Exchanges are set up to communicate between the MLS board database, and a web application (typically with a website as an interface) to display this information. Generally, there are two main types of IDX: iFramed and Integrated, the former of which may appear to be part of a website, however, would add no inherit benefit to search engine optimization (SEO) for the site it is displayed on. The latter, being integrated, contributes to searchable, and indexable site content.
