There is a content dispute regarding the caption for the image of Ethel Rose wearing a North African garment. An editor recently added a source from the U.S. Embassy in Tunis claiming it is a Tunisian jebba. However, historical records and Guy Rose's official biographical timeline document that the artist spent a winter stay in Biskra, Algeria in 1900, where he produced identical costume studies of an Algerian subject. There is no historical record of Guy Rose ever visiting Tunisia. The painting itself was created much later in California, likely utilizing props collected from his documented travels in Algeria. I have updated the caption to reflect this historical context and added an authoritative art reference regarding his stay in Algeria. Let's discuss a neutral consensus here rather than changing the caption back and forth on the main article page. Alaoui el mahdi (talk) 08:12, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
