Wrong application

Have never heard "flight square" or "escape square" used in any context other than w/ king. The Oxford Companion says "a square to which a king could be moved [...]" and mentions no other piece. For pieces other than king, the term is "retreat square". --IHTS (talk) 03:07, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Merged Luft here

I merged the Luft page here because it was basically the same; it just had to do with pawns. Hope this is an improvement. The Council of Seraphim | speak before the Council 16:45, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Error in Examples

In the second paragraph under examples: “ winning the checkmate-threatening h4 rook after White reacts.”

Couldn’t the rook move to f4 to block the check, evading capture? Am I missing something? 2600:387:C:6D13:0:0:0:C (talk) 21:01, 8 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yeah. An oversight by whomever added that text. Have adjusted the text. --IHTS (talk) 01:43, 31 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
