Talk:Endocerida

Heading

By rights, this page should be under the scientific heading of Endocerida. However to avoid more sea-saw, back and forth revisions and redirects I've decided to leave as is, with explanation of what Endocerid really means, with the rest of the page pertaining to the Endocerida.

Most pages on cephalopod orders are under to ordinal heading, not the vernacular term. Vernacular terms such as endocerid, orthocerid, or goniatitid, are commonly found in scientific discussion but not formally as taxa.

EndoceridEndocerida — Endocerida is the proper scientific term for this particular taxon, a cephalopod order. The use of the formal term goes with other formal taxonomic terms used in other cephalopod articles. Endocerid simply refers informally to any individual or subtaxon contained within J.H.McDonnell (talk) 01:12, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
