Wrong article name

"Dingoo" (or, more specifically, "Dingoo Digital") is the name of the company that makes the A320 device. A320 is the specific model number of their most famous (at this time) product. Better known as the "Dingoo A320." The importance of this distinction is that the company makes other products. More importantly, there has been some discussion of a product much like the A320, but a bit different (such as a bigger or wider screen.) In the future, there may well be other products that require their own pages.

Many people DO know the device as just "the Dingoo" however incorrect this is. Currently if you enter "Dingoo A320" it redirects you to "Dingoo." I think the best temporary solution is to instead do it the other way around or, a more permanent (perhaps better) solution would be to have a specific link at the top of a correct article discussing the company themselves to minimize confusion.

Just to update this a little, The Dingoo-specific linux distro is called "Dingux", and is based on the NanoNote version of OpenWRT. Booboo did most of the initial work on Dingux, but been pretty much AWOL for while now, further development mostly proceeds with third-part (fourth party?) forks. There is also recently the OpenDingux project, a re-port of the NanoNote's OpenWRT, hoping to take advantage of some of the improvements that had occurred since the original Dingux porting effort.
As far as I can tell, the Dingux portion of the Dingoo community is larger than the portion that uses native. or at the very least, a lot more active. 210.4.224.236 (talk) 03:04, 22 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Origin of the emulators?

The SNES emulator is basically VERY laggy. I doubt there is any worse emulator available for SNES games. However, under Dingux there is a VERY capable emulator, running at great speeds. I just don't know what emulator it is. Joepie91 (talk) 18:54, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I suspect the 8-bit Nintendo emulator is based on PocketNES (emulator for Windows based Pocket PC's). Just small things I've noticed, for example Mad Max won't advance past the intro screen regardless which buttons are pressed, certain sound glitches in Super Mario Bros, etc. I agree the official SNES emulator is rather poor on the Dingoo, far too slow for most games, to the point I still use my old PocketPC with its SNES emulator instead (it is a bit laggy too, but far better speed and accuracy). I would hope someone ports SNES9x or ZSNES to the Dingoo one of these days--Apple2gs (talk) 01:23, 28 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit warring on true origin of Dingoo

There has a silently edit war going on for some time between anonymous editors about the Dingoo's origin (website), one opinion being that the Dingoo is from China claiming www.dingoo.cn [1] is the website of the maker of the Dingoo, the other that the Dingoo is from Hong-Kong with www.dingoo.hk [2] as its official website. This is a ridiculous situation. We should choose for one, or maybe even both links (with an explanation as to the difference). Why is this edit war going on, and what are the arguments for or against mentioning either mainland China or Hong-Kong as the official makers website on this English language wikipedia. Basically there were two different companies producing A320. One was called Dingoo Digital and the other was called Dingoo Technologies. The first one is the Chinese one and the second is from Hong-Kong. The first one is said to be the original producer of the device, on the other hand the devices made by the other company are considered knockoffs by many. The first company isn't very active anymore, but the second is. I assume it is to the best of interest for Dingoo Technologies, to mislead people visiting wikipedia into believing that the device was produced by DT. I hope this sheds some light on the nature of the edit war.

I've semi-protected the page due to the Chinese editor mentioned in the edit-war discussion above, who constantly reverts the his preferred version of six months ago, with dead links, formatting errors, bad interwiki links, and so on. It's disruption bordering on vandalism. There aren't many good sources for any of the Dingoo models other than the A320, however the A320e is a repackaged A380 with a severely outdated Dingux on it with terrible emulators (besides CPS1, NES and GB/GBC).
Also, Dingoo Technology were the ones to make the A320e, A330 and A380 and so their emulators are stolen from the community without the respective source code released, the little software pirates. --DixieKongJD (talk) 12:21, 13 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

I removed this article from the Open hardware electronic devices category since I was unable to find any hardware docs/schematics.
