Sampling (music) article

This article starts off defining the basic process of digital sampling, fundamental to digital audio and video, but then goes on to talk about 'sampling' in the sense of taking music samples.

Perhaps it would be better to split off Sampling (music) for the latter. --Lindosland 14:38, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

On searching for 'Sampling' I find a disambiguation page leading to [[Sampling (music)] which is already a very full article! This article therefore needs to be turned into one on the basic process, and anything relevant to music sampling moved to the other page if not already covered. --Lindosland 14:41, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

disambig / See Also linkage

The link to Sampling (music) seemed off-topic, leading to a different subject than what someone who reads this article would want. Is this better? I've changed it to a disambig up top, which is admittedly more intrusive. I'm also not sure I've used the correct terms. --edgarde 16:18, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

sample rate

Much of what was written here about quality being limited by sample rate was jsut plain wrong, and served to propogate a common misunderstanding that is being used to market 'Hi resolution' audio. I intend to expand this article to properly cover that issue and others relating to the basic sampling process. --86.135.221.168 15:04, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sampling theorem and Anti-aliasing filters

I've added some information about these subjects.

By the way, I've removed the word "amplitude" from the very first sentence, because, to my opinion, it was not very correctly used (an amplitude is not a signal itself, but rather an absolute value of the signal's complex envelope).
